Hey, how’s your week going? Our latest issue is out, and we’re talking about second homes. Our publisher reflects on how a change of scenery can rejuvenate life, and our editor is looking back on a year that was anything but predictable.

Teslas are officially the most popular car in Seattle, but not everyone is happy about it — something we’ve been debating in the office, since two of our staff drive them. Meanwhile, this story is making me wish I skied. And tipping — are we over it?

If you’re trying to shake off winter, we’ve got a list of five things to do this season.

Bong Joon-ho (Parasite) takes on sci-fi with Robert Pattinson as an expendable space worker who keeps getting resurrected. It’s based on Edward Ashton’s 2022 novel Mickey7 and everyone seems to be talking about it. I saw Parasite and liked it, but I’ll never watch it again — too stressful. I’m so curious about this one.

Emergence is back after seven years, with Crystal Pite’s stunning piece inspired by the movement of insects. That alone is worth seeing. It’s paired with Jerome Robbins’ dreamy Afternoon of a Faun, Marco Goecke’s moody Mopey, and a world premiere from PNB’s Price Suddarth. If you’ve never let dance completely take over your brain, this might be the one.

In March 2025, people enthusiastically march in a Saint Patrick's Day Parade, proudly carrying a banner from the Irish Heritage Club. With flags waving and trees lining the route, it's an event must list for anyone celebrating Irish culture.

Everyone loves a parade. Or at least, everyone loves an excuse to wear green and cheer while bagpipes blast through downtown. The parade kicks off at Fourth Avenue and James Street, making its way north to Westlake Park. The Irish Festival at Seattle Center is happening all weekend, too, with live music, step dancing, and cultural exhibits if you want to keep the celebration going.

Seattle musicians are taking over the Royal Room for a night of Badu-inspired music. Led by Sheila Kay, this tribute brings an all-star band and a setlist that’ll do her justice. Did you catch her on Tiny Desk a few years ago? Captivating. This feels like the kind of night you’ll want to sink into.

Big moment for Taproot Theatre — it just finished renovating its Jewell Mainstage, and this is the first production in the upgraded space. Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun follows a Black family in 1950s Chicago as they fight for a better future. It was groundbreaking when it premiered, and it still hits hard today.
